I am also using a ELM327 circuit that I built to connect to my 00 civic.
I am manually setting its protocol to ISO9141 and forcing a slow bus initialization then sending the 01 00 PID command to tell me what PIDs are supported and to test the connection. The bus initializes correctly but I get no response when sending the 01 00 command... -_
